The full title is Kat Reads Anything She Bloody Well Wants To (And Then Talks About It At Great Length).

I'm a twenty-three-year-old cisgendered woman, mommy of one cat, a writer, and a rider. I was recently admitted to graduate school in library sciences, so beware: soon I will be talking about EVEN MORE BOOKS. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

(seriously, so excited. I'm gonna be a librarian! Fuck yeah!)

Warning: frequent opinions. May contain TL;DR.

"My library was dukedom large enough." - William Shakespeare

"I cannot live without books." -- Thomas Jefferson

"Books are masters who instruct us without rods or ferules, without words or anger, without bread or money. If you approach them, they are not asleep; if you seek them, they do not hide; if you blunder, they do not scold; if you are ignorant, they do not laugh at you."

"Thousands on the roads, the abandoned railtracks, tonight, bums on the outside, libraries inside. It wasn't planned, at first. Each man had a book he wanted to remember and did... The most important single thing we had to pound into ourselves is that we were not important, we mustn't be pedants; we were not to feel superior to anyone else in the world. We're nothing more than dust jackets for books, of no significance otherwise." -- Ray Bradbury

"But we do need a breather. We do need knowledge. And perhaps in a thousand years we might pick smaller cliffs to jump off. The books are to remind us what asses and fools we are." -- Ray Bradbury

"The same man cannot love both gold and books." -- Richard de Bury

"Him that stealeth, or borroweth and returneth not, this book from its owner, let it change into a serpent in his hand and rend him. Let him be struck with palsy, and all his members blasted. Let him languish in pain crying out for mercy, and let there be no surcrease to his agony till he sing in dissolution. Let bookworms gnaw his entrails, let the flames of Hell consume him forever." -- Library curses are fun!

"When I get a little money, I buy books; and if any is left, I buy food and clothes." -- Erasmus

"Books that you may carry to the fireside, and hold readily in your hand, are the most useful, after all." -- Samuel Johnson

"You may think that novelists always have fixed plans to which they work, so that the future predicted by Chapter One is always inexorably the actuality of Chapter Thirteen. But novelists write for countless different reasons: for money, for fame, for reviewers, for parents, for friends, for loved ones; for vanity, for pride, for curiosity, for amusement: as skilled furniture-makers enjoy making furniture, as drunkards like drinking, as judges like judging, as Sicilians like emptying a shotgun into an enemy's back. I could fill a book with reasons, and they would all be true, though not true of all. Only one same reason is shared by all of us: we wish to create worlds as real as, but other than the world that is. Or was. This is why we cannot plan. We know a world is an organism, not a machine. We also know that a geniunely created world must be independent of its creator; a planned world (a world that reveals its planning) is a dead world. It is only when our characters and events begin to disobey us that they begin to live." -- John Fowles
